(Waukesha, WI) May 6, 2009 – On Thursday, May 21st at 6:00 p.m., the Metropolitan Builders Association will host a consumer seminar at two locations titled, “The Remodeling Process.” “This seminar provides an overview of the remodeling process as well as some practical advice to help consumers select a remodeler,” said MBA Executive Director Chellee Siewert. “It will also examine cost vs. value to help homeowners determine if they should stay in their home and remodel, or if the time has come to buy a new home.”

The seminar will begin at 6:00 p.m. and last approximately one and one-half hours with opportunities to ask a lot of questions. Two professional remodelers will provide consumers with practical advice on this important topic:  Scott Riemer of Mukwonago Remodeling, LLC will speak at the Waukesha location, and Ed Miller of E. Miller & Associates, Inc. will speak at the Milwaukee location. “The Remodeling Process” will guide consumers from the creation of a wish list all the way through a remodeling project and give consumers advice so they enter the remodeling process as educated buyers.

“Many consumers don’t realize all the factors that must be considered when remodeling a home. Resale value, subdivision restrictions, the condition of the home, and the lot itself must be looked at carefully.” said Siewert. “Remodeling is also unique in that most of the time homeowners are living in the home throughout the construction process. It is imperative that those entering into this process have a basic understanding of what will be taking place during the remodeling of their home. The remodeling process can vary in length depending on the type of project undertaken, the level of customization involved, and the weather.”

This free seminar runs from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at two convenient locations: the MBA office, N16 W23321 Stone Ridge Drive, Waukesha, or the Milwaukee Housing Authority, 650 West Reservoir, Milwaukee. Pre-registration is recommended but not required. Register online at MBAonline.org, via email to htickanen@mbaonline.org, or by calling the MBA office at 262.436.1122.
