(Waukesha, WI) – December 24, 2008 – On December 4, 2008, the Metropolitan Builders Association hosted their 2009 Installation of Officers Dinner at the Harley Davidson Museum™ in downtown Milwaukee. Many attendees took the opportunity to tour the museum and participate in a silent auction which benefited the Bruce Horner Scholarship. In addition to celebrating the MBA’s new officers for 2009, a number of members were commemorated for their hard work and commitment to the MBA.

Ann Rodrigues, David & Goliath Builders, Inc., was installed as the 2009 President of the Metropolitan Builders Association. In addition to Rodrigues, the following officers were installed: President-Elect: Timothy O’Brien, Tim O’Brien Homes; Vice President: Joseph Wendelberger, J. Anthony Homes; Secretary-Treasurer: Ed Miller, E. Miller & Associates; Chairman Associate: Jon Chapman, R.A. Smith National; Vice Chair Associate: Susan Montie, ACS/Advanced Communication Specialists; and Secretary-Treasurer Associate: Colleen Horner, Colleen Horner Kitchen.Bath.Tile.Stone. Rod Demlang, Demlang Builders, Inc; Mike Kaerek, Kaerek Homes, Inc.; Joe Orendorf, Orendorf Custom Homes; and Dan Klappa, jdj builders, Inc. were also installed as new members of the 2009 Board of Directors.

At the ceremony, directors of the Metropolitan Builders Association presented the Builder and Associate of the Year awards, as well as the Associate’s Choice Award. These awards are the highest commendations given to the MBA membership. Builders and Associates are recognized for their dedication not only to the MBA, but also to the building industry as a whole. The MBA congratulates Pete Feichtmeier, Colby Construction, Inc., for achieving the 2008 Builder of the Year Award, and Colleen Horner, Colleen Horner Kitchen.Bath.Tile.Stone, for achieving the 2008 Associate of the Year Award. In addition, the Associate’s Choice Award honors an MBA builder, remodeler, or land developer who is loyal in his or her use of MBA member suppliers and subcontractors. Voted on by Associate members of the MBA, this award was given to Jeff Burg, JFK Design Build, Inc.

Two members, Steve Woll and Wayne Foster, were also installed into the MBA Hall of Fame. Although Steve Woll has passed away, the MBA honors him for his instrumental development in the HOW Council, the Industry Standards and the Construction Arbitration Board. Wayne Foster, the Foster Group Ltd., is involved on numerous building committees at the local, state and national level. As inductees of the Hall of Fame, the persistent work of these two individuals will always remain a standard that members of the MBA hope to achieve.     

The night also honored Bryce Styza, Harmony Homes, for 50 years of dedication to the Metropolitan Builders Association. Styza’s involvement has gone from serving on committees to committee chairman, MBA President, MBA’s Builder of Year, WBA President, and WBA’s Builder of the Year.

The MBA would like to congratulate their members once again for their achievements in the industry and encourage them to continue their successful leadership service. The MBA is a non-profit and non-partisan association which represents the building industry in the metropolitan Milwaukee area. The MBA develops and offers education for consumers as well as members. By establishing business ethics and industry standards, the MBA has earned a reputation as a trusted resource. Consumers enjoy our promotions for housing and housing products, while members take part in our professional and social activities throughout the year. The MBA has a long standing tradition of giving back to the community through a variety of philanthropic ventures.
