(Waukesha, WI) February 28, 2008 – On Thursday, March 13th at 7:00 p.m., the Metropolitan Builders Association will host a consumer seminar titled, “Designing Your New Home: Plans & Specifications.” “Designing your new home to fit the needs of your family is a critical element in the home building process,” said Matt Moroney, Executive Director of the MBA.  “This consumer seminar will address the importance of establishing good communication with your builder so that you both have a clear idea of what is expected of each other.”

The free seminar will begin at 7:00 p.m. and last approximately one and one-half hours with opportunities to ask a lot of questions. Gloria Lehrer from Designs Galore, LLC will provide consumers with practical advice so they can read and understand plans and specifications and learn how to design a home that will fit their needs.

“Designing your new home to fit the needs of your family is a critical element in the home building process,” said Moroney. “Once the home building process has begun, changes to design can be very expensive. It is important that design issues be discussed and addressed before the building process begins. To make sure you are on the same page when it comes to expectations, it is imperative that you read your contract, specifications, and plans carefully. You will want them to be as detailed as possible. If, after reading these items, you have any questions as to whether or not something is included, you must address it with your builder immediately.”

Your contract, specifications and plans all work together to form your construction agreement. Learn more when you attend “Designing Your New Home: Plans & Specifications,” March 13th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Builders Association’s office – N16 W23321 Stone Ridge Drive in Waukesha.
