Designing Your New Home: Plans & Specifications

(Waukesha, WI) February 27, 2007 – On Thursday, March 15th at 7:00 p.m. the Metropolitan Builders Association will host a consumer seminar titled, “Designing Your New Home: Plans & Specifications.” This seminar is designed to educate consumers not only on the importance of home design, but also the importance of working with your builder to make sure you are both of the same understanding when it comes to the different building details that make up your home design, plans, and specifications.

The free seminar will run from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and will offer consumers the opportunity to ask plenty of questions. Todd Becker of Homes By Towne will provide consumers with practical advice so they can enter the building process as educated buyers.

“Designing your new home to fit the needs of your family is a critical element in the home building process,” said Matt Moroney, Executive Director of the MBA. “Once the home building process has begun, changes to design can be very expensive. It is important that design issues be discussed and addressed before the building process begins. This consumer seminar will address the importance of establishing good communication with your builder so that you both have a clear idea of what is expected of each other. To make sure you are on the same page when it comes to expectations, it is imperative that you read your contract, specifications, and plans carefully. You will want them to be as detailed as possible. If, after reading these items, you have any questions as to whether or not something is included, you must address it with your builder immediately.”
