The Building Process
(Waukesha, WI) April 25, 2008 – On Thursday, May 15th at 7:00 p.m., the Metropolitan Builders Association will host a consumer seminar titled, “The Building Process.” This consumer seminar has been designed to provide an overview of the building process as well as some practical advice to help consumers understand the difference between custom and model home builders. It is the ideal place for people who are considering building a home to get a true understanding about what goes into the experience.
When contemplating your personal building experience, one of the first things you will need to decide is if you would like to build a model home or a custom home. Model home builders and custom home builders will require different levels of customer involvement. Understanding the key elements of the building process can help make your building experience a good one. A few of the key elements of the building process that will be covered at the seminar include understanding what is involved with the building permit, excavation, footings and foundation walls, framing of the walls, weatherization, rough mechanicals, insulation, drywall, finished cabinetry and finished carpentry, pre-closing walk through, and warranty issues.
The free seminar will begin at 7:00 p.m. and last approximately one and one-half hours with opportunities to ask a lot of questions. Peter Lange, Brookstone Homes, Inc., will provide consumers with practical advice so that they are prepared to consider the appropriate questions when entering the building process.
In order to avoid problems throughout the building process, it is important for consumers to do their homework first. The time it takes to construct a home can vary in length depending on the type of home built, the level of customization involved, and the weather. It is imperative that consumers entering into this process have a basic understanding of what will be taking place during the construction of their home.
The best way to know what to expect is to communicate with your builder or developer. Not only will this give you an estimate of the charges you should plan for when building on a particular lot, but it will also enable you to be aware of the involvement that is expected from each type of builder.
“The Building Process” is a great seminar for potential homebuyers and remodelers to learn the important details of the building process. If you are thinking about building a home, educating yourself on the process first can alleviate problems down the line. Learn more when you attend “The Building Process,” May 15th, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Builders Association’s office – N16 W23321 Stone Ridge Drive in Waukesha.
