Two MBA Members Earn Designation of Certified Construction Professional
(Waukesha, WI) February 22, 2007 – The Metropolitan Builders Association of Greater Milwaukee is pleased to announce two additional recipients of the Certified Construction Professionals designation. Sara Cichon, Demlang Builders Inc. in Sussex, and Frank Richards, All Purpose Home Repair & Remodeling, Inc. in Germantown have earned their CCP designations. The MBA congratulates them on their commitment to continuing education.
Designed to allow individuals who are serious about staying ahead of the competition an opportunity to be recognized for their commitment to education, the CCP program is customized to a member’s business affiliation. Different tracts are offered for builders, developers, and associate members. There are five basic core curriculums from which every member has to take a minimum number of classes. These curriculum offer classes in five primary areas: building science, land development, sales and marketing, better business, and safety. Both Cichon and Richards completed builder trade certification requirements. Check out our website at www.mbaonline.org to find a complete list of all MBA members who have completed their certification.
To receive certification, a member must attend 12 classes over a 2 year period. Classes are geared toward providing practical and useful information for everyday business operations. Program participants will have a leg up on the competition by staying abreast of all the changes in the industry. Members are also able to earn credit for one year of service on the Construction Arbitration Board and an additional credit if they serve as an inspector or mediator for a one year period. To maintain certification a member must attend 6 classes over a two year period.
Over the past year, the MBA has offered classes on a wide variety of topics including OSHA safety measures, generating effective public relations, and internet sales. Seminars on the laws that govern the construction industry have also been offered. These would include the enactment of the Jobs Creation Act, changes to Trans 233, and complying with the Endangered Species Act.
Unlike some other national certification programs, the CCP program is intended to be both affordable and convenient for those participating in the program. Over 400 MBA members have started their journey towards certification.
“Continuing education throughout one’s career is not only important to one’s self, but it is also important to the end customer,” states MBA Executive Director Matt Moroney. “The public is asking for businesses that display a commitment to professionalism and education. The MBA’s certification program is designed to allow MBA members who are committed to personal and professional growth an avenue in which they can be recognized for their efforts. The Association and its leaders feel very strongly that this program will not only give our members additional value for their membership investment, but also help support the MBA in its efforts to educate the public on the importance of using an MBA member for all of their building needs.”
