MBA Announces Educational
Courses Offered During May
(Waukesha, WI) – April 23, 2007 – In today’s competitive business climate, it is critical for developers, builders, remodelers, and those affiliated with the construction industry to be able to separate themselves from the competition. That’s why the MBA introduced our Certified Construction Professional program in 2004. A CCP designation speaks to an individual’s dedication to continuing education as well as his or her dedication to the customer and the home building industry. Educated professionals are more likely to educate their customers on the latest technologies available in the home building industry. Professionals who are constantly learning and challenging themselves are not afraid to share new techniques and applications with their customers. The MBA is proud to report that in the third year of the CCP program, over 400 MBA members are well on their way to certification.
In the month of May, the following courses are available to MBA members and other professionals:

May 1st, May 8th, & May 15th – Spanish for Construction Superintendents
This class has been developed through the vision of Bryce P. Styza, of Harmony Homes, and in collaboration with the MBA and LaCasa de Esperanza, Inc. This program is intended to provide introductory Spanish language training for English speaking construction managers to result in a safer work environment, clarity in communication, a positive and welcoming workforce environment, and increased productivity.
Cost: $150 for all three classes ? Class Time: noon – 4 p.m. ? 1 CCP Credit in the Building Science & Design Series, 1 CCP credit in the Business Series, and 1 CCP Credit in the Safety Series – Must attend all three classes to receive credits. Space is limited.
May 10th – Effective Sales & Presentation Skills

May 17th – Building Codes: Part I of II
Presented by: Duane Hubeler, Department of Commerce
Chapters 20 – 21 of the Uniform Dwelling Code will be discussed, which include administration and enforcement, as well as construction standards. Attendees will receive the current Uniformed Dwelling Code book.

May 22nd – Business Management Symposium

May 23rd – Plant & Aquatic Organism Protections
Presented by: Nick Schmal, USDA & Owen Boyle, DNR
Introduction of the threatened and endangered plants of Southeast Wisconsin, the type of habitats in which they are found, state regulations, voluntary conservation measures, and where to get more information. In addition, information will be presented on how to easily identify barriers at culverts that prevent upstream movement of aquatic organisms and how to design for stream simulation.
