MBA Announces Educational Courses
Offered During October & Early November
(Waukesha, WI) – September 28, 2007 – In today’s competitive business climate, it is critical for developers, builders, remodelers, and those affiliated with the construction industry to be able to separate themselves from the competition. That’s why the MBA introduced our Certified Construction Professional program in 2004. A CCP designation speaks to an individual’s dedication to continuing education as well as his or her dedication to the customer and the home building industry. Educated professionals are more likely to educate their customers on the latest technologies available in the home building industry. Professionals who are constantly learning and challenging themselves are not afraid to share new techniques and applications with their customers. The MBA is proud to report that in the third year of the CCP program, over 600 MBA members are well on their way to certification.
In the month of October and early part of November, the following courses are available to MBA members and other professionals:

October 11th – SMC Roundtable: Networking
Think networking is about standing around in the same cliques, handing out stacks of business cards and getting stuck in boring conversations? Think again. In today’s marketplace, successful businesspeople focus on building strong relationships and that starts with effective networking. This session will open your eyes to the new rules of networking, meeting the right people, making the right impression and creating powerful connections.

October 17th– Takings, Dedications, and Developer’s Agreements
A variety of attorneys will discuss the prominent approach government entities take when establishing impact fees, requiring dedications, and negotiating developer's agreements. This session will also cover takings law.

October 18th, 25th, & 31st – Spanish for Construction Superintendents “Bridging the Language Gap”
This series has been developed through the vision of Bryce P. Styza of Harmony Homes, Inc. in collaboration with the Metropolitan Builders Association and La Casa de Esperanza, Inc. This program is intended to provide introductory Spanish language training for English speaking construction managers. Clarity in communication will result in increased productivity and a safer, positive, and welcoming work environment. Cost: $150 for all three classes. Must attend all three classes to receive CCP Credit ? Class #1: Thursday, Oct. 18th, Noon - 4pm ? Class #2: Thursday, Oct. 25th, Noon - 4pm ? Class #3: Wednesday, Oct. 31st, Noon - 4pm ? CCP Credits*: 5 Credit Hours in Business Practices; 5 Credit Hours in Construction/Development, 2 Credit Hours in Sales/Marketing
October 25th – Building Codes: Part II of II Chapters 22-25
Chapters 22 – 25 of the Uniform Dwelling Code will be discussed. Chapters 22 and 23 cover Energy conservation, as well as Heating, ventilating and air conditioning. Chapters 24 and 25 will include Electrical standards and Plumbing. Attendees will receive the current Uniformed Dwelling Code book

November 1st – Real Estate Course 3 & 4
This Seminar is approved by the State Department of Regulation & Licensing for credit for real estate license renewal and will cover the topics of approved forms, contract law, real estate practice and agency.

November 6th – Community Development Symposium
The Community Development Symposium provides local municipal officials and the land development industry a look at national land use trends, market conditions and demand deficiencies as they related to our regional market. The Symposium offers opportunities and approaches that local officials and land developers can implement to fill regional needs and future demands. There will be a feature discussion on plan commissioner training.
