MBA Announces Educational Courses Offered During April

In today’s competitive business climate, it is critical for developers, builders, remodelers, and those affiliated with the construction industry to be able to separate themselves from the competition. That’s why the MBA introduced our Certified Construction Professional program in 2004. A CCP designation speaks to an individual’s dedication to continuing education as well as his or her dedication to the customer and the home building industry. Educated professionals are more likely to educate their customers on the latest technologies available in the home building industry. Professionals who are constantly learning and challenging themselves are not afraid to share new techniques and applications with their customers. The MBA is proud to report that in the third year of the CCP program, over 400 MBA members are well on their way to certification.

In the month of April, the following courses are available to MBA members and other professionals:

April 3rd – Managing Difficult Customers
Presented by: JoDeMars, DeMars & Associates
Working with customers can at some times be very difficult. This class will focus on best practices that increase customer satisfaction/loyalty and show a positive return on investment.

April 11th – Heartsaver First Aid with CPR & AED Course
This class has been tremendously helpful in helping firms with OSHA compliance. Space limited to first 25 registered. Cost: $100 MBA member & employees/$120 non-member ? Class Time:  Registration 7:45 a.m./Class 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with ½ hour lunch break. (Continental breakfast and lunch are included) ? No CCP Credit hours

April 17th – Construction Engineering
Presented by: Dave Wheaton, City of Wauwatosa
The remodeling and home improvement industry must endure a variety of challenges because of the condition and structural integrity of the buildings they are improving. Building inspectors evaluate buildings based on the local code, but also factors that may impact safety.Over the years, inspectors have been utilizing a code provision that allows them to require engineering during the construction process. This session will address those areas that typically require engineering, the concepts of structural engineering, and methods that should be used to provide inspectors the necessary information they need to make a complete assessment of your project. Attendees are encouraged to provide questions in advance of the seminar to ensure that the speaker can be prepared to address your specific questions.

April 24th – SMC Roundtable: How to Survive in a Buyer’s Market
Learn tips to stay positive in a market that might not be as favorable as ones in the past. This roundtable is ideal for anyone related to the building industry—from owners to salespeople—everyone can learn some tips from this valuable roundtable.
