Choosing the Builder and the Lot
On Thursday, April 17th at 7:00 p.m., the Metropolitan Builders Association will host a consumer seminar titled, “Choosing the Builder and the Lot.” This consumer seminar will explore the variety of building opportunities different homesites have to offer – particularly whether or not there is an option for an exposed basement, and whether or not there is suitable soil and subsoil. The seminar will also give you some thought as to what type of home you would like to build as well, whether it be choosing a model home or designing a custom home.
The free seminar will begin at 7:00 p.m. and last approximately one and one-half hours with opportunities to ask a lot of questions. Joe Wendelberger, J. Anthony Homes will provide consumers with practical advice so that consumers are prepared to consider the appropriate questions when entering the building process.
Determining where you want to live depends on many factors. There may be a certain community you are drawn to, a school district you would like your children to attend, or even an area that is close to your employment or some of your recreational pursuits. Whatever the reason you are drawn to a particular area, you should take the time to truly evaluate the amenities you would like in the subdivision or area you plan on building.
In addition, it is important to communicate with your builder or developer not only to gain an estimate of the charges you should plan for when building on a particular lot, but also to be aware of the involvement that is expected from each type of builder. Custom builders may require you to make visits to the site to verify specific details, while model home builders generally don’t need as much customer involvement due to the fact that most of the homes being built are exact replicas, or slight deviations from previous homes.
Choosing the builder and the lot are two critical decisions when deciding to build a new home. Learn more when you attend “Choosing the Builder and the Lot,” April 17th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Builders Association’s office – N16 W23321 Stone Ridge Drive in Waukesha. Pre-registration is recommended but not required. Register online at MBAonline.org or call 262-436-1122.
