Karyn Beebe
APA - The Engineered Wood Association

Karyn Beebe is an Engineered Wood Specialist for APA - The Engineered Wood Association, responsible for market development in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Karyn is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of California and is a graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structures. Her duties include consulting with designers on the efficient use of engineered wood products, providing aid in product selection, proper application and troubleshooting. Prior to joining APA, Karyn practiced structural engineering in San Diego. There she worked for a consulting engineering firm designing buildings of all types. Most recently, Karyn worked for the City of San Diego's building department performing structural, fire and life safety review of building plans. Karyn is an active member in several professional organizations including the Structural Engineers Association and the Residential Production Council of Chicago.




Jeffrey P. Clark, Esq.
Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C.

Jeffrey Clark has litigated for 26 years and manages complex cases. Prior to 1988, he practiced in the commercial, labor, and employment and ERISA areas. For the past several years, he has focused his practice on environmental, health and safety litigation, and construction litigation; although, he also handles commercial and personal injury cases. Mr. Clark received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University in 1976 and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1979. He has also taken course work in environmental engineering, groundwater, and chemistry and environmental regulation to better prepare for his cases and alert his clients to environmental trends and regulatory compliance issues. He has represented clients before the Wisconsin DNR, U.S. EPA, OSHA, and others.




Patrick Conway
International Masonry Institute

Patrick Conway, AIA, is the International Masonry Institute's (IMI's) director of technical services in Wisconsin. He is a nationally published author and presenter on topics such as flashing and moisture control, masonry movement joints, new masonry technologies, air barriers, and job-site troubleshooting. Conway is a member of both the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Construction Specification Institute (CSI).




Brad Dagen
Rose & De Jong

Mr. Dagen provides legal services in a variety of areas, including business start-ups, mergers and acquisitions, real estate development, construction contracts and employment agreements. His litigation practice includes jury and bench trials in state and federal court, arbitrations and mediations. Earned his law degree from Creighton University School of Law and his undergrad from University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Mr. Dagen is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, American Judicature Society, and the Metropolitan Builders Association. His service to the MBA include the Construction Arbitration Board Arbitrator and Mediator, Construction Industry Standards Committee, Remodelor's Contract Committee, and chairperson of the Contract Committee and the Mediation Committee.




Dennis DuRoff
Universal Business Design

For more than twenty years, Dennis DuRoff has been teaching, speaking, training and coaching business owners and professionals to lead satisfying lives and develop more productive and successful businesses. Dennis is the founder and principal of Universal Business Design, an educational corporation with offices in Seattle, Washington. Dennis is a nationally recognized speaker. He has been the keynote speaker at the NAHB Builder Symposium and presenter at the NAHB National Convention. Audiences acknowledge Dennis' sense of humor, insights, and his ability to make them think and take action. His message is one of possibility and hope. Dennis has achieved the designation of Senior E-Myth Consultant. He received his training under the guidance of the E-Myth Academy's founder Michael Gerber, author of The E-Myth Revisited.




Michael Flanigan
Radiant Electric Heat

Mike Flanigan is President and CEO of Radiant Electric Heat, Inc. in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin-a manufacturer of infrared radiant electric heating products. He began his business career in Washington, DC in the broadcasting, printing and electrical supplies industries. While on active duty in the U.S. Army for 10 years, he served in Germany and Viet Nam. Upon leaving active duty, Mike attended graduate school, and then moved to the Midwest where he worked in the medical supplies and telecommunication industries. In 1986, he was appointed President of Cellular One in Southeastern Wisconsin, and remained in the wireless telephone business for 14 years. He has founded two companies and led the turnaround of three firms. Mike is a graduate of Augusta State University, and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. Mike retired from the Army Reserve as a Colonel. He and his family live in Elm Grove, Wisconsin.




Neal Ganser
Corbond Corporation

Neal Ganser is President and founder of Corbond Corporation. He has been in the construction industry for over 35 years beginning in the trades, educated in architecture. As a roofing and insulation contractor in Montana he developed the CORBOND® Performance Insulation System™. He has served as a moisture consultant on the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, designed a special urethane spray insulation system for the arches on the Frank Lloyd Wright Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, Wisconsin and many other projects around the country. Ganser is currently Chair of the Building Envelope Committee within the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance and recently represented that industry to the DOE residential 2020 Roadmap effort. Ron Klassen
Wallner Builders

Ronald C. Klassen, president and owner of Wallner Builders, comes from a varied background. Born in Nebraska, raised in Minnesota, and schooled in Indiana, he's "from all-over" the Midwest. His formal education includes a BS Electrical Engineering from Notre Dame, with other courses and training sessions from Architectural Lighting to a Certificate in Management to round-out the list. He has worked with several large-scale manufacturers such as GM, Johnson Controls and P&H (formerly Harnischfeger) as an Electrical Engineer and then as Technical Marketing Manager. His remodeling background spans 25 years. Ron is an active member of the Metropolitan Builder's Association of Greater Milwaukee (MBA), serving on the Remodelor's Council and other committees. He shared the Business Marketing Association Excellence Award in 2001, and was one of the first to earn the Certified Construction Professional (CCP) designation from the MBA in 2004.




Pete Lange
Brookstone Homes

Pete Lange has been involved in the Residential Construction Industry since 1990. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in General Engineering from the University of Illinois, Mr. Lange joined the Illinois Division of Pulte Home Corporation, where he gained experience first as a Customer Service Manager, then as a Construction Superintendent. He moved to Wisconsin with Pulte in 1995. He has experience in production and custom home building, modular construction, land development, and inner-city rehabilitation and redevelopment. He also served William Ryan Homes as a Production Manager and as Director of Sales and Marketing for the firm's Wisconsin operation. Mr. Lange currently serves Brookstone Homes as Vice President and Director of Construction.




Joseph Lstiburek, Ph.D., P.Eng.
Building Science Corporation

Dr. Joseph Lstiburek is a principal of Building Science Corporation and is internationally recognized as an authority on moisture related building problems and indoor air quality. He will speak on topics ranging from drainage systems, building enclosure, and moisture. Dr. Lstiburek has written numerous books and technical papers on building construction. He is the best selling author of the Builder Guides and has over 50 technical and journal articles to his credit. He has conducted forensic investigations and served as an expert witness on building failures all over the U.S. He is an expert in the areas of rain penetration, air barriers, vapor barriers, air quality, and durability and construction technology. He specializes in rain damage and mold and microbial contamination of buildings. Dr. Lstiburek is an acclaimed public speaker and lecturer in building science. Dr. Lstiburek received an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, a masters degree in Civil Engineering, and a Doctorate in Building Science from the University of Toronto. Nancy Miller
Form & Function, Inc.
Nancy Miller, Interior Designer and owner of FORM & FUNCTION, Inc., is a Wisconsin Registered Interior Designer and member of the American Society of Interior Designers. She currently serves on the MATC Interior Design Advisory Board. With over 20 years experience specializing in residential interiors, Nancy assists clients with new construction and remodeling projects, selection of finish materials and decorating. She has received awards for her projects and service to the profession.




Joe Nagan
Home Building Technology Services

Joe Nagan, owner of Home Building Technology Services, a consulting firm dealing with residential construction performance issues. Mr. Nagan has been involved in the "Building Science" community since 1990 and is a member of the Energy Efficient Building Association (EEBA). Mr. Nagan is certified in Advanced Building Science and Residential Mechanical Ventilation, Design, and Insulation.




Mary Schroeder
Miller Homes

Mary Schroeder is owner of Miller Homes, a custom home building company. Mary has been in the construction industry for the past 25 years and served in every MBA leadership post. She is a past President of the Association, chairperson of the industry standards committee, past chairperson of the Uniform Dwelling Code Committee, past chairperson of the Construction Arbitration Board, and various other committees of the MBA. Ms. Schroeder also serves on the State of Wisconsin's Uniform Dwelling Code Council. Aside from her professional involvement, Mary is an active community leader and past-President of the Mayfair Rotary of Wauwatosa, Trustee of the Jonathon Ryan Schroeder Grow Scholarship Foundation, and formerly served on the State of Wisconsin's Contractor Financial Responsibility Council and on the Advisory Board of Custom Builder Magazine.




Diana Sullivan
Independence First

Diana Sullivan has been employed by IndependenceFirst for the past 9 years and has been involved in access and accommodations for 15 years. She has consulted with municipalities, businesses, organizations and individuals on aging in place, universal design strategies, and disability awareness. "How easy can we make this?" is the mainstay of her work practice. She invites others to adopt this philosophy too as the boomers age and may soon have age-related disabilities.
