On the last show we talked about landscaping. Sally from Waukesha e-mailed our professionals on advice for fall landscape maintenance tips.
MBA professionals said:
- Do not prune shrubs that bloom in the spring (Lilacs, rhododendrom, white spirea)
- Fall is a good time to divide and replant perennials
- Cut back perennials but leave a 4” stub to help insulate the root crown over winter
- Deep watering of evergreens in the fall is a good idea as their needles are exposed to the drying sun and wind all winter.
- Lawns should be cut back to 2 ½ - 3 inches high in October or November
